"The Laundromat" by Tiara West Films — Bring It to Life with Your Support

— Tiara West (Writer & Director); Carlos Bradley (Director of Photography)

As an rising cinematographer, I’ve had the privilege of working on a variety of sets, but this project is something truly special. I’m excited to share that I’ve joined the production for an incredible short film led by a talented young director Tiara West. This marks the first time I’ve stepped into the world of crowdfunding for a film project, and I couldn’t be more proud to support a story that is as powerful as the team bringing it to life. But what is "The Laundromat"? I will let our director tell you more.

"At its core, The Laundromat is a story about Bianca, a young woman reluctantly watching her family’s laundromat, only to find herself in a spiraling nightmare. It’s a tale that combines the everyday struggles of family responsibility with an unsettling twist that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This film is more than just a project; it’s a milestone in my evolution as a storyteller. It merges the depth of drama I love, the emotional complexity of my characters, and the intensity of suspense that only a thriller can deliver. Your support will not only bring Laundromat to life but also champion diverse stories in the thriller space—proving that Black creators can bring innovative and gripping narratives to the screen. Together, we can take this bold step into a world where emotions run deep, and fear feels real. Let’s create something unforgettable." — Tiara West (Writer & Director)

It's not every day that you get to collaborate with a visionary director whose perspective is as unique and vital as hers. Representation in film isn’t just about diversity on screen; it’s also about the diversity behind the camera. Her vision is bold, compelling, and deeply rooted in experiences that deserve to be seen and celebrated. Being the Director of Photography for this project is an honor—but collaborating with the producing team has given me a whole new appreciation for what it takes to crowdfund an independent film.

One of the most inspiring aspects of this journey is working alongside an all-female producing team. Together, we’re not only supporting a powerful thriller but also breaking barriers in an industry where women are still underrepresented behind the camera. The collaboration, creativity, and dedication of this team are unmatched. Each of bring a unique set of skills to the table, and the synergy has been nothing short of amazing.

But here’s the truth: filmmaking is expensive. From securing locations to hiring talent, renting equipment, and covering post-production costs, every step requires funding. This is where you come in. Your support can help us bridge the gap between a dream and a finished film. By contributing to our crowdfunding campaign, you’re not just funding a movie; you’re investing in a vision, in representation, and in the future of filmmaking.

This experience has been a humbling learning curve for me, navigating the intricacies of fundraising while juggling creative responsibilities. But it has also been deeply rewarding to see how many people believe in the power of independent filmmaking and are willing to invest in voices that need to be heard but also contribute to establishing the foundation for young professionals moving into their film careers. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference in helping us tell this story.
